Funded by the vRNP-capture ERC Consolidator Grant to discover the viral and cellular proteins that engage with viral RNAs in infected cells.
Viral RNA is 'at the heart' of virus infection and, therefore, the interactions that it establishes with the host cells are critical for the viral life cycle. Our goal is to uncover the molecular mechanisms underpinning these poorly characterised host-virus interactions and explore their therapeutic potential.
Our Projects
-
Elucidating the interactome of viral RNA
The ERC funded this effort to elucidate the interactions that viral RNA establishes with the host cell and the compositional changes induced by interferon.
-
Revealing the interactome of viral proteins
Funded by the MRC core funding, we aim to use new advances in proteomics to uncover how viral proteins engage with the host cell.
-
Host-virus interactions in the mosquito vector
Funded by a WT studentship we investigate how arbovirus can interplay with the proteins of two different host cells.
-
Feeding viral replication
Our laboratory investigate how viruses repurpose host resources to produce a high supply of nucleotides to feed viral replication .
