Celebrating a milestone for Kate
Kate Dicker joined the Castello lab in 2019 as part of the Welcome Trust Infection, immunity and translational medicine programme at the University of Glasgow. Her project aimed to elucidate the role of the cellular RNA-binding proteins that are incorporated into the particles of the human immunodeficiency virus. She was severely affected by lab access restrictions due to the COVID19 pandemic and the move of the Castello lab from the University of Oxford to the University of Glasgow. However, she carried out an excellent PhD and discovered cellular proteins that regulates the production of HIV particles. She is returning to the University of Oxford where she will study medicine.
